Marck Bio to target pharma markets in US, Europe, Australia

The Gujarat based Marck Bioscience with its pres­ence in 40 countries is now planning to enter into the regulated markets of US, Europe and Australia in a big way by the end of 2007.

Talking to Pharmabiz Bhavesh Patel, managing director, said, "Once our capacity expansion is over, we would be focusing on national and international marketing efforts to increase our out­reach. We have also applied for registrations to operate in countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Burma, Vietnam and Indonesia."

Recently, the company has made its foray into the southern market by launching operations in Bangalore. The company has introduced, a comprehensive range of quality products in the state, including common solutions, electrolyte replacements, antibiotic solutions, diuretics, anti-infective, anti-fungal drug therapeutics, eye,
ear solutions, injectibles and inhaling solu­tions. It is expected to roll out its.

Products across Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala by the end of 2007 and is aiming to become the third largest manufacturer of par­enterals in India.

"We are targeting 150 per cent growth in the financial year 2007-08. Currently our turnover is at around Rs 40 crore and by end of next finan­cial year we aim to reach the turnover of Rs 100 crore. We would have full fledged mar­keting operations in South India and would be recruiting more than 80 distributors. After entering in the southern region, we expect our domestic growth will go upside. And we are tar­geting revenues of Rs 25 crore and a market share of eight per cent from southern market. As we are also involved in the Contract Research And Manufacturing Services (CRAMS) and around 34 % of total turnover is coming from the CRAMS seg­ment," he further added.

Pharmabiz has earlier reported that the company has invested Rs 72 crore at its.existing Kheda facility towards creating additional capacity of LVP and SVP. It would enable Marck to expand the product basket in sterile dosages. This expansion also includes setting up a modem formulation and development centre along with a state of the art laboratory and training centre.
