Marck Bio to enter South East Asian market by end of 2007

The Gujarat-based Marck Bioscience is planning to set up business operations in South East Asian countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Burma, Vietnam and Indonesia in the current year. The companyis mainly focusing on ophthalmic range of products. It has already applied for the registration in these countries.

Marck Bioscience managing director Bhavesh Patel said, "We are likely to get the registration to operate in more international markets. Recently, we received the accreditation to operate in the Philippines. The company has dispatched its first shipment to the country. We are also is in the process of setting up our own distribution network in Philippines".

The company has also plans to enter into the regulated markets. It has filed its products dossiers in Brazil, South East Asia countries and African countries. The company is also filing its product dossiers in the advanced
markets like Australia, Europe and U.S by the end of 2007.

Recently, the company has made its foray into the southern market bylaunching operations in Bangalore.
The company has introduced a comprehensive range of quality products in the state, including common
solutions, electrolyte replacements, antibiotic solutions, diuretics, anti infective, anti-fungal drug therapeutics, eye, ear solutions, injectibles and inhaling solutions.

Currently, Marck Biosciences manufactures and markets ophthalmic, respiratory care, irrigation solutions and diluents in the small volume parenterals segment. The company is expected to roll out all its products across Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala by the end of 2007 and is aiming to become the third largest manufacturer of parenterals in India.

The company targets 150 per cent growth in the financial year 2007-08. Currently, its turnover is around
Rs 40 crore and by end of next financial year company aims to reach the turnover of Rs 100 crore. "We are also looking at tie-ups for contract manufacturing and product partnering for specialized products in advanced markets, semi-regulated markets and emerging markets like Malaysia and Russia", Patel further added.
